Victoria Square Development Moves A Step Closer As Retailers Relocate

With construction works to one of the region’s most ambitious retail and residential developments, Victoria Square, scheduled to commence shortly, Victoria Square Woking Limited (formerly Bandstand Square Developments Limited), has announced the relocation of two retailers.

As the next step in supporting the preliminary works to Wolsey Place Shopping Centre, the UK’s leading health and beauty retailer has moved to a recently renovated retail unit opposite Toys R Us in Bandstand Mall, Peacocks Shopping Centre.

Boots UK has retained its wide range of products and will have a particular focus on beauty brands. Customers will also be able to access pharmacy and healthcare essentials and will be able to get their prescription medicines from the store as usual.

Tara O’Halleran, Store Manager of Boots in Woking, said: “We were thrilled to open our newly relocated store this week, and be a part of this exciting time of development in Woking. We’re committed to our presence in the town, and look forward to continuing to care for our customers and the local community, who will still be able to get all of their favourite products and services from our new store in the Peacocks Shopping Centre.”

To complement the relocation, Boots Opticians will also open a new standalone practice in the town centre.

In addition to Boots UK relocation, Sante Fe Coffee Shop will also move to new premises in Middle Walk, Wolsey Place Shopping Centre. The coffee shop will open their new premises shortly once refurbishment works are complete.

Cllr Saj Hussain, Woking Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, said: “Our town centre is fortunate enough to host a diverse range of retailers which make it an attractive and vibrant place to visit. As the town prepares for work to commence on the Victoria Square development, we are pleased to provide key retailers with great new premises.

“Boots and Sante Fe Coffee Shop are just two examples of the many businesses that will benefit from the significant changes which are about to take place, as we continue to transform Woking into one of the best shopping experiences in the south east.”

The Victoria Square development, comprising the former Woking Market site, Post Office, Globe House, Woking Fire Station and part of the existing Wolsey Place Shopping Centre, will be delivered by Victoria Square Woking Limited, a joint venture between Moyallen, owners of Peacocks Shopping Centre, and Woking Borough Council.

Once development works are complete, Boots will return to a new purpose built store in Wolsey Place Shopping Centre.

It is expected that the construction works will commence during summer 2017, with a completion date of 2021.
