Woking Hospitality Alliance

Woking Hospitality Alliance has teamed up with the Department of Work and Pensions and Brookland College to provide hospitality training courses to boost employment and fill vacancies within Woking.

These courses will provide learners with a range of skills suitable for front of house duties and help them develop a basic understanding of good customer service, preparing and serving drinks, restaurant preparation and service for fine dining.

If you are a local Woking business and have current vacancies, sign up here and we will match you with a fully trained individual, ready for work. All you have to do is interview them to see if they are the right fit. Alternatively you can post your vacancies to the Woking JOB Board for free.

The following courses will start soon at Brooklands College and will lead to a full qualification for employment.  If you already have someone who is interested in training for a specific qualifiaction, please tell them about the following courses. 

Level 1 certificate: Professional food and beverage service  

Starts 20.9.22 (and runs for 32 weeks).

Level 1 Award: Introduction to culinary skills

Starts 20.9.22 (and runs for 7 weeks).

Level 2 Award: Culinary skills Diploma 

Starts 20/9/22 (and runs for 32 weeks).

"Hospitality Rocks" will start on the following dates in 2023

17/1/23; 7/3/23; 25/4/23; 16/5/23; 13/6/23

The Hospitality Rocks  qualification is suitable for individuals that are interested in employment within the catering and hospitality industry. These are short 2 week courses.

Learners will cover a range of units suitable for front of house duties, develop a basic understanding of the importance of good customer service, preparing and serving drinks, restaurant preparation and service for fine dining,

Learners will be expected to complete live assessment within Brooks Restaurant at Brooklands College.

Additional qualification- Level 2 Food Safety will also be provided to enhance employment opportunities.

Eligibility for the "Hospitality Rocks" 2 week courses

If you are in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance (JSA), Employment Seekers Allowance (ESA), or currently unemployed, actively seeking work and in receipt of benefits you may be eligible for fee remission. You must bring along evidence of receipt of one of the benefits listed below with you when coming to enrol. This evidence must be current and dated within three months of the start of the course.

Benefits to support fee remission – JSA, ESA, Income Support/Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction Benefit, Pension Guarantee Benefit.
