At TEDxWoking, TED Talks live speakers and video combine to spark deep discussion and connection. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
First run in Woking in February 2015, and again in 2017, 2018 and 2019, TEDxWoking attracted a large and positive audience to WWF-UK's Living Planet Centre for talks on the themes of ‘transformation', 'innovation’, 'discovery' and 'collaboration'.
Some of these talks can be found below:
TEDxWoking seeks to build upon the success of each previous event, each of which has sold out, with some talks amassing online views of over 170,000.
The standard of speakers has continued to remain very high, and in 2018 a rehearsal was introduced to the selection process, in order to better support the speakers and ensure consistency in quality.
The application process for speakers has also been standardised with set speaker criteria, and an audition stage, to help drive improvement and maintain Woking’s reputation for delivering excellence.
In the spirit of 'ideas worth spreading', TED launched TEDx in 2009.
TEDx is a programme of locally organised events that bring the community together to share a TED-like experience. The independently organised events, licensed by TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design), features local voices and TED Talks videos.
Our event is called TEDxWoking, where x = independently organized TED event.
