LoCASE

LoCASE is a grant funding programme, offering SMEs in Woking financial support to help their businesses go green and cut energy costs while remaining competitive and profitable. With grants of between £1,000 and £20,000, covering 40% of eligible costs, the funding is available for companies providing green products or services to implement energy efficiency measures. It also offers an environmental training scheme and events.

Training and advice

LoCASE offers businesses free training and advice about a whole range of topics, including how your business can become more energy efficient, develop a more sustainable business, reduce costs and secure new customers, plus finance, sales development and marketing. Their 'Steps in Environmental Management' course gives you the opportunity to build your understanding and knowledge, develop personalised plands and gain accreditation.

Action Surrey – Business Energy Support

Action Surrey is an impartial energy advice service set up by local councils across Surrey as well as Surrey County Council. If you're a small to medium sized business, Action Surrey can help you reduce your energy costs and your carbon footprint. Managing the energy consumption of a commerical enterprise can be a complex process but Action Surrey provides impartial energy efficiency advice to identify ways to help your business reduce energy costs.

EMphasis3 CO2 Reductions Project

EMphasis3 CO2 Reductions Project

EMphasis3 CO2 Reductions (EMphasis3) is an ERDF funded SME support project combining the expertise and experience of the University of Portsmouth, the University of Winchester and the cleantech cluster, Greentech South.

Supporting the shift towards a low carbon economy in the Enterprise M3 LEP region, the EMphasis3 project is delivering a 2,000 tonne reduction in CO2 emissions.

Offering a free energy efficiency audit – delivered by GEP environmental – the assessment allows businesses who may be reluctant to an install energy saving kit due to the cost and confusing array of ways to target areas of considerable carbon emissions.

WEAct

WEAct are a voluntary group of individuals taking action locally on issues relating to climate change and sustainability. The Woking Environment Action partnership with Woking Borough Council (WBC) began when Woking Local Agenda 21 was set up in 1994.

Free Heat Pump Installer training funded by Surrey County Council

Free Heat Pump Installer training funded by Surrey County Council

You can receive high quality training funded by Surrey County Council, on the installation and maintenance of air source heat pumps and low temperature heating system design, alongside extra content on the MCS certification and guidance on making the next step as a new heat pump installer. This training has been funded to help heating engineers make the transition to installing heat pumps and to meet the high demand for skilled heat pump installers in Surrey.   

East Surrey College and ISO Energy are providing training over a 5-day period. The training consists of two courses:

1. Low Temperature Hot Water Heating Systems

The qualification is aimed primarily at practicing plumbers and heating engineers who already have an understanding of the fundamental requirements of central heating systems and who wish to design and install energy efficient low temperature hot water heating systems that may use heat pumps as the heat source.

2. Level 3 Award in Heat Pump Systems (non-refrigerant circuits)

This is a nationally recognised qualification in the installation and maintenance of air source heat pump systems. The qualification is recognised by the Micro-generation Certification Scheme (MCS) as an acceptable qualification to join one of their respective schemes. Units covered include:

  • M/650/2406 - Know the requirements to size, select, install, commission and handover heat pump systems (non-refrigerant circuits)
  • R/650/2407 - Plan, prepare, install, commission, and maintain air source and ground source heat pumps (non-refrigerant circuits)
