We are currently looking for Waste Operative's to join us across our 4 depot's across Surrey

What is the purpose of this role?

Amey works in partnership with Surrey County Council to deliver waste and environmental services across all Surrey boroughs – including looking after kerbside collections, household waste recycling centres, waste treatment and waste education.

Surrey is known for its natural beauty and with it covering a quarter of the UK, our aim is to help it stay that way by providing a waste collection service which is efficient and keeps the streets as clean as possible while increasing the amount residents recycle.

As a Waste Operative/Loader you will be to collecting refuse/recycling from residential properties and dispose of refuse in designated receptacles.

You will working alongside the loader trucks in public areas and in all weather conditions so you will need to have the desire to work outside.

What will this role involve?

Collect refuse/recycling from requested locations and dispose of at the appropriate waste collection sites)

Carry out and assist with Loading responsibilities as required

Work as a member of a team and receive any instructions from Supervisors and communicate them to other crew members

Ensure the satisfactory completion of work in accordance with instructions

Be compliant with Health and Safety at work requirements

Give advice, guidance and assistance to new or inexperienced staff

Carry out any reasonable task or other duties and responsibilities as may be required

At all times carrying out responsibilities/duties with regard to the Company’s Equal Opportunities Policy

What are we looking for?

Previous experience in customer services and customer care skills but not essential

Maintaining level of service in all weather conditions

Experience of working under prolonged periods of sustained physical effort

Ability to work as part of a team

Flexible approach to hours of work

Technical competencies

Health and Safety awareness and knowledge of Health and Safety requirements

Manual handling
