Is your organisation dementia-friendly ?

30 May 2019

Around 16,252 people live with dementia in Surrey and numbers are rising. Woking LDAA (Local Dementia Action Alliance) feel now is the right time to make businesses and organisations more inclusive of those affected and living with dementia in our borough.

Dementia friendly

The Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) is a national network, with local coordinators who help local communities to identify changes they can make to become more dementia-friendly.

Working with the DAA and Alzheimer’s Society, we would like to come and explain what simple, low-cost actions we can all take to make our organisations more dementia-friendly and subsequently Woking receive official status as a ‘Dementia-Friendly Community’.

If we all commit to making small changes in the way we operate we can also reap the benefits of more customers, more community participation and more engagement with other organisations.

In fact, recent Alzheimer’s Society research shows that 47% of people think that dementia-friendly areas would be nicer places for everyone to live in.

Whether you have some experience of dementia-friendly actions that your organisation has already taken or would just like to understand a bit more, please let me know and I will be very happy to come along and discuss how your organisation can help and be a part of Woking Local Dementia Action Alliance.
