TEDxWoking wants your ideas!

TEDxWoking will be returning to the borough on Thursday 10 November, and this year’s theme is ‘Our future’, for which potential speakers are now invited to put themselves forward.

TED is a nonpartisan non-profit community, devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics - from science to business to global issues - in more than 110 languages. Meanwhile, independently-run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.

This will be the sixth time that Woking will have hosted a TEDx event. TEDx talks continue to inform, engage and enlighten their audiences long after they are delivered, as all talks are filmed and available online soon after the live gathering.

This year, TEDxWoking will be led by Rob May - MD of award-winning local IT support and managed services company, ramsac - to bring together an afternoon of engaging speakers and TED videos.

Rob is an experienced international presenter himself, and gave his own talk at TEDxWoking in 2017. He will be leading the audition and shortlisting process, which takes place in early July, and offering free advice to confirmed speakers.

So, if you are a local person with an 'idea worth spreading', and able to speak or perform for up to 18 minutes without notes on the topic of 'Our future’, please apply online. Entries close at 5pm on Monday 13 June.
